We have all been there thinking there is something better than stock as far as what I need to grab onto daily with my bike. Are the stock grips on the Honda Monkey 125 terrible? I would say that answer is now but there are better choices.

Changing out a set of grips is both a nice addition to your bike and a huge decision making process based on the 10 trillion options you have with google returning over 46 million results on a typical search for Motorcycle Grips.

Color? Material? Design? Logos or no logs are all choices you will need to make. In the end it comes down to what you like the look of as feeling them via the amazon website is not yet something they have implemented.

I find it interesting that many of the grip manufacturers are all from Italy, it must be true what they say about Italians, big hands need nice grips.

A note on grip removal and install as many jump into this thinking it will be a snap. If you have never done it before check out a few videos on the best way to remove and install grips – Hit YouTube and check them out, but in the end the old grips need to come off and the new need to go on and you will want to use some kind of grip glue or in my case I like to use:

Because when you need hold there is nothing like Aqua Net (not not ask how I know this but this was a secret passed along years ago. Also to get the grips off other than a razor blade, compressed air seems to work well shot between the bar and the grip.

The hairspray will act as lubricant to slide the grip on and position it.

A pile of side notes:

1. Make sure to take note of where your original grips were located
2. Line up the grip, logo, patterns etc or the install will not look good
3. If you have bar ends, but the correct style grips or know you will have to cut the ends of the grips.
4. There are two different sizes of grips, throttle side, and clutch side
5. Do the throttle side first as it usually is much harder to do, then you will love the clutch side
6. Make sure on the throttle side that you do not bind the throttle or this could be your last set of grips you will need.
7. I recommend safety wiring the grips because its safer and looks cool.

Enjoy your new grips no matter the pair you order, they are about setting your bike apart and or making a statement, but do not forget that it’s actually about comfort while riding.
